We are delighted that you are considering offering your property for rental during The Open Championship.

Please note that submissions for Royal Birkdale have now closed, and we will not be accepting any further entries for this event. Submissions for the 155th Open at St Andrews can now be made.

We charge a £50 + VAT non-refundable inspection fee to arrange a viewing of your property. This fee becomes payable upon confirmation of your viewing appointment.

A viewing typically lasts around 45 minutes, during which we will outline the process, discuss requirements, answer any questions you may have, and take additional photographs of your property.

STL Temporary Exemptions for the St Andrews Golf Open STL Temporary Exemptions for the St Andrews Golf Open (11 - 18 July 2027) The Open Championship returns to St Andrews in July 2027, bringing a significant number of visitors to the area. To support accommodation demand, Fife Council is offering Short-Term Let (STL) Temporary Exemptions. A temporary exemption allows the use of a property as a short-term let for a specific, time-limited period for the Golf Open 2027 without a full STL Licence. Applications will be accepted between 15 June and 4 October 2026. It can take up to 6 months to determine applications, so we encourage you to apply early. You can only operate as a STL when the exemption is granted. If you hold a valid full STL licence, a temporary exemption is not required.

HMRC Reporting Notice (Short‑Term Lets)

We’re legally required, as a digital platform operator, to collect and verify certain host information and report relevant details to HMRC each year. This applies to hosts offering short‑term or holiday accommodation through our platform, including hosts outside the UK where the income is earned in the UK.

What we collect (as required by law)

This may include your name and address, date of birth, tax identification number(s) (including international TINs where applicable), financial account identifiers, rental income, and details of your rental property (such as address and, where available, Land Registry reference).

What happens next

We report the required information to HMRC annually. You remain responsible for your own tax return. We use this information to meet our legal obligations and handle it in line with UK data protection laws.
